1964 Klira Oklahoma Bass 962 Turquoise Sparkle

Klira was one of West Germany's most prolific instrument manufacturers, operating out of Schönbach — a town with centuries of craft tradition behind it — and turning out guitars and basses throughout the 1950s, 60s and 70s that found eager players across Europe and beyond. During the 1960s, Klira's hollowbody basses offered something the American and Italian imports couldn't quite match: a distinctly European character in both construction and personality. The Oklahoma Bass series is particularly celebrated among vintage enthusiasts, and a Turquoise Sparkle example from 1964 is about as visually striking as it gets — the kind of instrument that stops the room before you've played a single note.
