1975 Burny/Fernandes FLG-70 Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst (MIJ)

Produced during the legendary "lawsuit era" of Japanese guitar manufacturing, this 1975 Burny FLG-70 represents one of the earliest and most sought-after Les Paul replicas ever produced by Burny/Fernandes. Built in Japan with exceptional attention to detail, it captures the feel, construction and unmistakable character of a vintage Gibson while showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship that established Burny as one of Japan's premier builders. Finished in a beautifully aged cherry sunburst, the carved maple top sits atop a solid mahogany body, producing the rich midrange, singing sustain and authoritative low end that has defined the Les Paul sound for generations. Weighing approximately 4.3kg, it delivers the reassuring heft and resonance expected from a vintage single-cut, while remaining perfectly balanced and inspiring in hand.

The one-piece mahogany set neck features the traditional 24.75" scale length and a comfortable late-'50s inspired C profile, offering a substantial yet familiar feel that effortlessly suits both rhythm and lead playing. The bound rosewood fingerboard is adorned with classic pearloid trapezoid inlays and fitted with 22 medium nickel silver frets, providing a smooth and confident playing experience across the entire neck. The vintage-style construction contributes to outstanding sustain and resonance, while the traditional 12" fingerboard radius allows for comfortable chording and expressive bends alike. Fret life remains excellent at approximately 80% with only light to moderate signs of use.

A Seymour Duncan SH-1n '59 humbucker in the neck is paired with a Seymour Duncan SH-14 Custom 5 in the bridge, creating a versatile combination that blends vintage warmth with modern punch. The SH-1n delivers smooth, articulate cleans with rich harmonic content and an open, PAF-inspired character, making it equally at home for jazz, blues and classic rock. In contrast, the SH-14 offers increased output, tighter low end and a broad, powerful midrange, providing exceptional clarity under gain while retaining excellent note definition and dynamic response. Together, they create a remarkably balanced setup capable of everything from warm vintage cleans to aggressive hard rock tones, with the traditional dual volume and dual tone controls alongside a three-way toggle switch allowing effortless tonal shaping.

Freshly serviced and setup with 10-46 strings, this FLG-70 plays effortlessly with low action and precise intonation. Cosmetic condition is nothing short of excellent, showing only careful and considerate signs of use consistent with over five decades of ownership. All original aside from the replaced pickups, this is an increasingly difficult Japanese vintage instrument to source, offering exceptional craftsmanship, timeless looks and the unmistakable tone that made the earliest Burny guitars legendary among collectors and players alike.
