Gibson L6-S Custom 1977 - Ebony Electric Guitar
Up for sale is a 1977 Gibson L6-S Custom Electric Guitar in Ebony.
The guitar is used but remains in good overall cosmetic and excellent playing condition, especially considering its age. It shows various signs of normal cosmetic wear throughout the top, back, and sides, along with a couple of light nicks on the back of the neck.
There is one more significant area that should be noted. Near the bottom strap button, there are two cracks in the body located next to one another. The cracks do not extend all the way through to the top of the guitar, and when holding and playing the instrument, the affected area is not noticeable. Please review the photos closely for the best representation of this area and its condition.
Aside from this area, the guitar remains a great-playing vintage instrument.
The electronics are original and working properly. The guitar has been set up with medium-low action and plays great up and down the neck. Fret wear is very minimal and does not negatively affect playability.
The guitar weighs 8.35 lbs and includes an older non-Gibson hardshell case.
About This Model
The Gibson L6-S Custom is one of Gibson's more distinctive solidbody designs of the 1970s, combining a relatively compact body with an unusually versatile electronics package.
Introduced during the 1970s, the L6-S was designed to offer players a much broader range of sounds than a conventional two-humbucker Gibson.
One of the defining features of the L6-S Custom is its multi-position rotary pickup selector. Combined with its original control layout and dual humbuckers, the guitar provides a wide variety of pickup combinations and tonal options beyond the traditional neck, bridge, and combined settings found on most Gibson electrics.
The model is also closely associated with Gibson's experimentation during the 1970s and has become an increasingly recognizable vintage Gibson design in its own right.
This 1977 example retains its original electronics, which is a particularly nice feature for a guitar approaching 50 years old.
