Common Questions About the Yamaha YAS-875EX

How does the YAS-875EX differ from the Yamaha YAS-82Z?

The Custom EX is generally chosen for its centered, refined concert concept and measured resistance. The Custom Z follows a freer-response design with a more flexible tonal palette often favored for jazz and commercial work. Neither approach is universally superior; the better choice depends on the player's sound concept and preferred response.

Can the response of the YAS-875EX be adjusted with another neck?

Yes. Yamaha offers compatible Custom-series neck designs that allow players to explore different resistance, articulation, and tonal characteristics without changing the core instrument.

What is the role of the included Yamaha 4CM mouthpiece?

The Yamaha 4CM has a 1.50 mm tip opening and 22.0 mm facing length. It provides a familiar reference setup for evaluating the saxophone, while allowing experienced players to substitute their preferred mouthpiece and reed combination.
