I believe this Flying V was a hard tail from 1983, making it a Flying V 83. The Kahler tremolo appears to have been added after it left Gibson. The routing and installation were done right. I also believe the Kahler is an early version, about the same age as the guitar.
The guitar has yellowed, and there is finish checking with chips and dings. Remarkably, the frets and fretboard are in very good condition.
The guitar appears to be all original, with the exception of the Kahler, and the speed knobs. The pickups are the original Tim Shaw ‘Dirty Fingers‘, and the electronics in the control cavity look factory.
An extra strap button was removed from the inside of the upper wing of the V, leaving a screw hole. The head of the screw on the A string tuning machine has broken off, but the tuner is fully functional.
The guitar is currently set up with very low action, and the Kahler works smoothly. It sounds quite nice, with fully functional electronics. It’s a blast to play.
The original case is fully functional, but it is worn.
