A 1974 Fender Jazz Bass has arrived.

This instrument features the rare custom color “Mocha.”

It’s not something you see on the market very often.

The year 1974 marks the transition from a 4-point to a 3-point neck joint.

With the switch to a 3-point joint, most vintage models—even if you manage to acquire one—require frequent maintenance due to neck misalignment and strength concerns; however, this one retains the 4-point joint. This means you won’t have to worry about any such performance issues.

Although the nut has been removed once, it is original. The frets are also original.

While the frets are slightly low, there are no noticeable ridges, and they retain about 40–50% of their original height.

While the remaining height may seem minimal, this is a delight for collectors, and from a player’s perspective, it’s in impeccable condition—still playable for quite some time.

There is plenty of truss rod adjustment left, so you should be able to enjoy this guitar for many years to come.

Furthermore, the neck is in such beautiful condition—with no extreme quirks—that you’d hardly believe it was made in the ’70s.

Since it is, after all, a vintage instrument, it does have some minor quirks, but these pose absolutely no issues for playing.

People often say, “When you think of the ’70s, you think of ash and maple!” but this instrument features an alder and maple combination.

The rare color and alder body—a configuration that strays slightly from the norm—is truly captivating.

Also, since it’s alder, it’s naturally lightweight. This particular instrument weighs a very light approximately 4 kg.

We often hear people say, “I love ’70s Jazz Basses, but they’re too heavy…” so we’d love for those people to pick this one up and try it out.

Although some solder joints have been reworked, all the pots are original.

As for the pickups, only the bridge pickup shows signs that the wire has been replaced, but once you experience the sound of this instrument, you won’t consider it a negative change.

Rest assured, the neck pickup has not been rewound and is definitely original.

As for the tone, there’s absolutely nothing to complain about. It’s simply the best.

While it doesn’t have the same crispness as an ash model, it reproduces the rich, mid-range tone characteristic of an acoustic instrument—a quality unique to alder—with the classic 70s Jazz Bass character.

It’s a perfect match for a Marcus-style slap sound, of course, but it’s also a bass that makes you want to play a wide range of genres, from pop and jazz to modern music.

It’s highly authentic and sounds great.

Highly recommended for collectors and players alike.

With the 1970s vintage market booming right now, this is a bass you’ll want to add to your collection.

Don’t miss out.
