The TS-9 is one of the most iconic overdrive pedals in guitar history. Introduced in 1982 as a replacement for the TS808, it delivers a warm, mid-focused, slightly compressed and highly dynamic overdrive, with a somewhat brighter and more aggressive character than the TS808. Its three simple controls — Drive, Tone and Level — allow you to achieve anything from a light crunch to pushing a tube amp into a denser saturation; with low Drive and high Level, it is particularly effective as a boost, emphasizing the mids and adding definition to solos. The original Japanese model was produced from 1982 to 1985 before becoming a classic, and the TS9 was later reissued from 1993 onwards and remains part of the Ibanez lineup. It is notably associated with guitarists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Gary Moore.
