First off, this guitar plays amazing and is well balanced. it sits on the leg nicely and is very comfortable to sit and play. (Some Les Paul’s are bottom heavy and are not fun to play seated).

I bought this guitar from a dealer as just a husk. It had a crack in the headstock. I use Total Boat structural epoxy for these Gibson headstocks. (I’ve repaired dozens upon dozens of these neck cracks and breaks). The exothermic reaction of the curing epoxy causes it to seep much deeper into mahoganys loose wood grain. Way more than PVs and hide glues, making a much stronger repair. (stronger than the original un-repaired neck wood). This fix came out beautifully and is invisible to most people. I did some airbrush tinting to rid any eyesores. (see photos). I did buff up the top on this to help that nice subtle flame pop a bit. Other than a few small impressions I photographed this is a clean machine!
I did use shielding paint in the control cavity, I’ve rebuilt around 70 of these Gibsons and I have noticed a difference doing this. So it is a must with passive electronics. I also do a fret level crown and polish on every guitar I sell. Gibsons factory fret work has a lot to be desired. These frets are gorgeous! You’ll instantly feel the difference.
For hardware I used all chrome. Locking tuners. Made in Germany Nashville bridge with full weight advanced plating tailpiece. The pickups are what usually come in the customs, the 490R neck and 498T bridge. They show some slight age but look and sound great. The electronics are the standard 500k pots with .022uf capacitors. Gold knobs, no poker chip or pickguard and a blank trussrod cover. The truss rod is in perfect condition with no threads showing. This is an awesome, solid guitar that feels amazing and is ready to find a good home. Check out my shop for more like this and even some one off custom relic pieces.
