2011 Martin Custom Shop OM-42 — Madagascar Rosewood / Italian Bearclaw Spruce, 1 of 8, Vine of Harmonics

For sale: a 2011 Martin Custom Shop OM-42 from a limited run of just eight guitars. This is not a standard OM-42 with a couple of options changed — it was spec'd around an exceptional set of Madagascar rosewood and a top-grade Italian bearclaw spruce top, with the woods hand-selected by Ed Golden, then Martin's Custom Shop manager.
The fingerboard carries the "Vine of Harmonics" inlay in blue paua. Combined with the Madagascar rosewood (a dramatically figured set), fossil ivory appointments, and hide-glue construction, this is a spec Martin cannot recreate today at any price: Madagascar rosewood and fossil ivory are no longer available, and a comparable modern Custom Shop build with substitute woods quotes in the $16–18K range.

Serial / spec sheet: Martin dates the guitar to 2011 by its serial number. The factory Custom Shop spec sheet is dated 05/25/2012 — order paperwork for this 1-of-8 run was finalized after the serial was assigned. The specs on the sheet match this guitar exactly. I have a digital copy of the spec sheet (shown in the listing photos); I do not have the physical original.
Condition: Excellent overall, with honest light playwear. There are some very light scratches (photographed as closely as I can), some light finish crazing around the bridge and pickguard, and some minor finish bubbling along the binding in a couple of small spots — all shown in the photos. The bubbling is in the finish at the binding edge and is cosmetic. No cracks, repairs, or structural issues.
Includes the original TKL hardshell case.
