This banjitar plays just as good as the day I got it. I couldn't find any markings or defects in it. I plugged it up to my amp to see how the electronics were working, and they work just as good as the day I got it. The volume knob is also of really good quality still as it has that silky smooth action when turning it. The strings that are currently on it are worn so you might want to change them out FYI. This banjitar comes included with the hard body case. There are some very small scuff marks on it, but as far as its functioning it works perfectly. All of the buckles/latches work just fine, and the interior is filled with a plush carpet that's in just as good of quality as when I got it. There are scuff marks on the transparent banjo/drum like head on the body, but it is something that could be cleaned off or even replaced. But I don't notice any interference with the sound of it when playing. Overall, its definitely an instrument you can tell is of good quality when playing. It has the weight of a banjo and the sound of one as well, but just simply strung as a guitar. It is indistinguishable from a traditional banjo, so if you know guitar this is a cheat code to making any song a country/folk banjo sound. Also this does seem to be a left handed banjitar as the model has a "L/H", which I only learned today as I was preparing to sell it. I am not left handed, nor have I been playing it left handed. It was given to me strung for right handed playing, and thats how I've played it. There doesn;t seem to be any mechanical things on it for a left handed person other than how it is strung and the placement of the volume knob. I imagine the engraved part on the side of the body was meant to rest on the leg of left handed person. But I've spent hours at a time playing it and noticed no discomfort with it. I'm very willing to listen to any offers as well.

The GT-500 Acoustic-electric Resonator Banjitar from Gold Tone pairs banjo twang with the familiar feel of a guitar so that 6-string players can scratch the banjo itch with no learning curve whatsoever! The GT-500 Banjitar is tuned like a guitar. Complete with 21 frets and a slick rosewood fingerboard, its range surpasses the average banjo, but players will find authentic banjo components at every turn. A maple neck, rim, and resonator fuel loud, bright, and clear tonal character shaped to perfection by a Remo head, a bone nut, and a steel alloy tone ring. The onboard SMP pickup lets players quickly plug into amplification and interfaces, which makes the GT-500 more than suitable for gig work and recording. Sweetwater guitarists enjoy using the GT-500 for twangy auxiliary plucks and accented strums, but it’s beyond also worthy as a primary instrument. In particular, the rosewood fingerboard’s radiused build offers outstanding tapered comfort built for serious range so that ambitious players can explore upper and lower frets with gusto.
It’s no secret that hybrid instruments can be tricky to build, play, and maintain. But rather than rush products to shelves, the GT-500 Banjitar builders worked hard to ensure this hybrid lives up to performance standards that make Gold Tone a modern institution in the folk world. The GT-500’s resonator-style body generates the sound and feel that bluegrass players prefer, with maple construction that guarantees a bright, familiar sound packed with plenty of twang. Moreover, an additional Remo banjo head and steel alloy tone ring, both essential banjo building blocks, catalyze harmony among all GT-500 components for a final push into Gold Tone territory.
The GT-500’s electronics offer a deluxe take on Gold Tone’s SMP system. The SMP, or Sliding Magnetic Pickup, is a discrete, clean amplification source mounted to your banjo or banjitar’s coordinator rods. A sliding design lets players position the SMP pickup anywhere within an instrument’s sound chamber with varying results. Scoot the SMP up to the neck for wide, mellow tone, or place it closer to the bridge for extra punch and bite. With many nuanced options to discover, players can always find a few satisfying sweet spots with one single pickup. What’s more, the GT-500’s electronics attached a heavy-duty volume control to the resonator body, a deluxe appointment that’s indispensable for gigs and ensemble play.
Gold Tone’s Zero Glide nut is a tiny piece of hardware that enhances instrument performance drastically. The patented design pairs a sustain-boosting bone nut with a hard nickel-silver “zero fret” for enhanced reliability and sound. Zero Glide nuts grace the headstocks of electric guitars, acoustic guitars, banjos, and even ukuleles. The benefits are clearly universal! Zero Glide’s precision-cut string slots further reduce string contact by a staggering 93% at the nut — meaning fewer tuning breaks and better resonance, especially when playing gets aggressive. Zero Glide also narrows sonic differences between fretted- and open-string notes while solving common intonation issues for innovative accuracy without compromising character.
