The Epiphone 80s Explorer EMG in Classic White (Serial #26061528987) is based on the 1984 Gibson Explorer, the version of the shape that became a staple of '80s hard rock and metal.
The mahogany body has a gloss Classic White finish and no pickguard, which keeps the look clean and aggressive. It weighs 7.64 lb.The set mahogany neck has a 60s SlimTaper carve in a gloss finish. The rosewood fretboard has pearloid dot inlays, a 12" radius, and 22 medium jumbo frets on a 24.75" scale, with a 1.69" Graph Tech nut. The Explorer headstock carries a gold silkscreened Epiphone logo and mini die-cast tuners. An Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and LockTone stop bar tailpiece anchor the strings, and the hardware is nickel.
Active EMG pickups do the heavy lifting: an EMG 81 in the bridge for tight, high-gain chug and an EMG 60 in the neck for smoother leads and cleaner tones. Controls are two volumes, a master tone with knurled metal knobs, and a 3-way toggle. The pickups run on a 9V battery (not included), which sits in a compartment on the back for quick changes.
