2007 Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul Plaintop Reissue (R8) VOS Faded Cherry Sunburst.
OPEN TO OFFERS
2007 is considered a benchmark "good wood" year for the Custom Shop. The build quality, selection of lightweight mahogany, and overall resonance from this era are legendary. This particular R8 perfectly captures the look, feel, and soul of a true 1958 burst.
Built in Nashville, Tennessee, this 2007 Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue, a solid mahogany body with a plain maple top finished in Washed Cherry nitrocellulose lacquer. Built to vintage spec, it features a long neck tenon joining the solid mahogany neck to the body for enhanced sustain and acoustic transfer, along with the period-correct chunky '58 neck profile.
Electronics consist of a calibrated pair of unpotted Gibson BurstBucker humbuckers (BurstBucker 1 in the neck and BurstBucker 2 in the bridge) wired to CTS pots and bumblebee-style capacitors. Hardware includes an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece, and vintage-style tuners. Includes the original Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case
The Faded Cherry Sunburst VOS (Vintage Original Spec) finish has aged really nicely in its first 20 years.
The plaintop maple cap has a lot of character—clean and classic from some angles, yet showing beautiful, subtle grain pattern and vintage vibe from others.
Tone & Hardware
Acoustically, this guitar is loud, snappy, and rings out like an old acoustic. Plugged in, the original Gibson Burstbucker 1 & 2 pickups deliver pure PAF magic. They are woody, articulate, and dynamic, cleaning up beautifully with the volume controls and providing that perfect cleans or classic rock bite when pushed.
Condition & Extras
- Condition: Just played in! Frets are in fantastic shape with plenty of life left. There are several wear marks, scratches, dings etc. as a result of it being played a lot basically because it sounds great! It definitely hasn’t been a ‘case queen’ and has been played most days, gigged worked hard in the studio…. And it shows! But it’s rock solid and it’ll just keep getting better.
- Weight: just on the the 9 pound mark– nicely balanced and comfortable for a non-weight-relieved historic LP.
- Includes: Original Gibson Custom Shop black hardshell case (maroon interior) and the all the ‘case candy’/tags etc.
