The legendary Fender Mustang Bass—originally produced in 1966 and 1981, then reissued from the late 90s through 2014. Hard to find in Japan.

This is the MB’98 SD Short Scale model in CBL (California Blue), made in Japan in 2000. It is one of the early reissues.

Excellent build quality, with a slim, very comfortable neck (38mm at the nut).

Tonally, it delivers a punchy, funky snap. That said, plenty of rock and garage bands love this sound profile. A highly playable bass with great upper-fret access and a stunning look. A toy for grown-ups!

Very good overall condition with light signs of use; frets are in excellent shape (8/10—see photos for details).

Please note: do not confuse this with current Mexico-made models (which feature jumbo frets, satin neck finish, 42mm nut width, non-rosewood fretboards, Mexican pickups, etc.) or the soulless new American Performer US models.
