1997 Guild DCE-1 USA Westerly Acoustic-Electric – Project / Needs Repair
1997 Guild DCE-1 acoustic-electric, made in Westerly, Rhode Island, USA. Serial #AD114534.
Selling this as a project/repair guitar. It is complete and has a lot of potential, but it needs structural repair and a setup before I would consider it properly playable.
The main issue is that the spruce top has split/separated alongside both sides of the fingerboard extension near the soundhole, and there is some displacement in this area. The action is currently very high, which may be related to movement in the upper-bout/neck area. There is also a section of loose/separated binding, along with normal cosmetic wear and finish checking from age.
I have not had the guitar professionally evaluated, so I can’t say exactly what repairs will be required. Please look carefully at the photos and assume it will need attention from a qualified acoustic-guitar repair person/luthier. I’m selling it as-is rather than investing in the repairs myself.
Made during Guild’s Westerly, RI era. Solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, rosewood fingerboard, cutaway body and onboard electronics.
Sold AS-IS / PROJECT condition.
Happy to provide additional photos or measurements if you’re seriously interested.
