Vintage Peavey Patriot

If you are looking at the add you probably already know how special these instruments are.  ALL USA MADE!  Unsure of the year, but would date to early 1980’s.

 Body:

Peavey designed this The S-style" double-cutaway with several unique structural features that set it apart from a standard Fender Stratocaster. Peavey specifically engineered this geometry (called naturalite to prioritize player ergonomics, lightweight comfort, and full access to higher registers.

  • Thickness:
The body depth measures roughly 1.5 inches. This makes it significantly thinner than a standard 1.75-inch Stratocaster, contributing to a remarkably low weight of around 6 to 7 pounds.
  • Width: Measuring a tight 12.5 inches across the lower bout, the instrument has a highly maneuverable feel that is popular with players who prefer smaller-bodied guitars.

This beauty is all natural (appears to be mahogany) with a dark walnut stain.  As shown in the pictures, the instrument has honest vintage wear.  I have cleaned it up but intentionally did not attempt to refinish it..choosing to retain its classic great vibe.

At some point, it looks like someone swapped out the original hard tail bridge with a top mounted tremolo.  I have replaced that unit with Kahler Flyer tremolo.  All Rollers on adjustment screws have been lubricated and the unit functions smoothly.  Please note that the tremolo bar is not included.

I made a new hand-made pickguard for this guitar.  While it is by no means perfect it has been aged to match the wear of the instrument.

Neck:

Unique to the early 1980’s Patriot and Predator models is a 24.75 scale length and a 12” radius neck (same as Gibson LP and SG models).  It also has micro tilt heel (like USA Fender).  Of course, it also has that famous peavy bi-laminate rock maple construction that super stable and straight.  The neck is outfitted with original peavey split shaft tuners.  Frets have expected wear for instrument of this age.  I have lightly  crowned the frets and polished them while setting up the instrument but there is still observable wear (most notable on frets 1-5) right where you would expect it.  Finish wear on the board and the back of the neck is all honest and reflects the many years of service.

Electronics:

All USA peavey components to include those crazy cool peavy super ferrite single coils and a matching peavey wiring harness from a peavey patriot (split shaft 250k pots, original peavey tone capacitor and bleed circuit).

Setup:

I have set up the guitar with a medium to medium low action.  The instrument comes strung with a new set of Ernie balll super slinky 9’s.  Action is smooth and the guitar plays and sounds every bit as good as she looks.

I have done my best to be transparent about what this incredible instrument is.  If you are looking for new OR completely original, this is not the gear for you.  If you value Made in the USA peavey and the vibe that only vintage wear presents then this could be the guitar you are looking for!
