Beautiful 1975 Vox AC30 Top Boost in exceptional condition for its age. It has clearly seen very little use and remains remarkably original.
This is one of the desirable Dallas-era AC30s, with traditional tag-board construction rather than the PCB construction found in some earlier ’70s models.
The amp still has its original pair of Rola Celestion G12M 25W 8Ω Creambacks with Pulsonic cones. The cones are unmarked, but they have the distinctive large, deep ribs associated with the late Pulsonic cones, rather than the finer rib pattern seen on the later Kurt Müller cones. These speakers are highly sought after, valuable in their own right, and a huge part of what makes this amp sound so special.
The circuit is extremely original. During servicing, only four ageing electrolytic capacitors were replaced for reliability: two Plessey 33µF/450V capacitors and two 32+32µF/450V filter cans. The original removed parts are included.
The original Vox footswitch is also included.
Turn it up and the Brian May sound is immediately there. Huge harmonics, compression, bite and sustain. Play the "Tie Your Mother Down" riff and it is almost uncanny: it genuinely feels like the recorded Brian May guitar tone is coming straight out of the speakers.
A beautifully preserved and highly original AC30, with its original Pulsonic-coned Creambacks, original footswitch, and only the minimum necessary servicing.
The amp will be carefully packed and shipped from Athens, Greece.
