2016 Gibson SJ-200 Standard - Antique Natural | USA Montana All Solid J-200 Jumbo Acoustic Guitar Flamed Maple L.R. Baggs Anthem Pickup | OHSC
I am offering here a Gibson SJ-200 Standard AN from 2016, a handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana (USA), all-solid timber luxury version of the “King of the Flat-Tops” acoustic guitar model featuring a voluminous Super Jumbo body design, select “AAA” Sitka spruce top, back and sides made of spectacularly figured flamed maple, set walnut-reinforced flamed maple neck with vertical growth rings and rounded neck profile, bound rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl Crown inlays and Grover Rotomatic Gold tuners, moustache rosewood bridge elaborately adorned with mother-of-pearl inlays, and high-quality L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup system in a radiant Antique Natural high-gloss nitrocellulose finish with florally decorated tortoise pickguard in very good condition, including black Gibson luxury hardshell case, manufacturer’s papers, and professional setup with 12-53 Elixir Phosphor Bronze strings.
The historically legendary “King of the Flat-tops” debuted in 1937, setting an unmatched standard for tone at the time, and is today rightly considered one of the most popular acoustic guitars in the world. Bob Dylan, Elvis, and Pete Townshend—the SJ-200 has been played by countless artists on more albums than any other jumbo acoustic in history... and the Gibson SJ-200 Standard carries on this legacy today.
Just like the original, this U.S.-made version features the solid Super Jumbo body style, a resonant Sitka spruce top, and a body crafted from impressively flamed maple—which together deliver a powerful, rich sound. The medium-width flamed maple neck, with its rounded profile, feels immediately comfortable in the hand, and the 20 frets on the rosewood fingerboard—edged with cream binding and featuring classic Gibson mother-of-pearl crown inlays—offer a comfortable, smooth playing experience.
The large soundbox gives the SJ-200 Standard fantastic volume, allowing it to stand out sonically in any set. The bass notes are powerful, and the treble sounds crystal-clear with brilliant overtones. Clearly defined yet exceptionally warm and direct—in short: it quickly becomes clear why it’s the king of flat-tops.
A sound sample of this model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
It also comes factory-equipped with an L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup system, which combines a piezo pickup with a microphone and transforms the guitar into a true professional-grade instrument, even for live performances.
