Electro-Harmonix Metal Muff Distortion with Top Boost 2006 - Present - Black
Ah... me and this little friend have seen the world together over the years. It has played shows large and small. It's seen a lot of love and taken some bruises, but is fully functional and capable of delivering some really bright noise. Cuts through the mix and your ears. Set dials to max for Merzbow fuzz. The EQ can bring out some low end if you need it but I think it's fair to say this isn't a pedal designed for clarity or subtlety. A useful tool to have kicking around. There's a kind of controversial 'top boost' mode which is EXTREMELY BRIGHT and probably used for metal solos (??) I dunno. It's great for weird sound design though. Or just ignore that whole thing for the classic muff distortion stuff.
Pretty sure I picked this pedal up on tour in the states in 2007 and it's been with me ever since, but I've moved on to different flavours of noise these days and am getting rid of lesser-used things as I just don't have the storage space.
Nice and cheap, chaotically noisy, has some pedalboard velcro on the bottom. Works as expected.
