Alright. This is an extensive project I completed years ago for fun before I was a luthier. Selling to declutter.
Previous owner decided to "relic" it by taking a blowtorch to the polyurethane. Don't do that. Instead, I -
- Hand carved a heart into it
- Refinished it in Metallic Pellham Blue Nitro Lacquer for the body. Dakota red for the heart, aged clear for the neck and headstock. Gloss finish but metallic is annoying and imperfections are pictured. Back of neck is satin.
- Recarved neck - made the neck a bit flatter and uniform up to the headstock instead of having that weird bump starting at the 2nd fret.
- Hardtail plate and tune-o-matic. TOM saddles are radiused to fit the radius of the fretboard.
- New bone nut, made from scratch.
- Fret level + dress + polish, the whole works.
- Tuners are locking but came with only one lock (previous owner lost them)
- Prev. owner put a hot rails in the bridge position. I wired the typical mustang switches to do phase switching on neck pickup and coil splitting on the bridge humbucker.
- Volume pot has a treble bleed and tone pot is a .022 cap
- Neck shim for lower action (pictured) - measures 56/50 in thousandths of an in.
I put probably 20 hrs into working on this thing.
Heart Shaped Box and Drain You sound especially good on this guitar.
