1970–72 Gibson LG-0 Natural Spruce
Vintage early-1970s Gibson LG-0 in Good condition. Serial 935050. Built in Kalamazoo, this is Gibson’s compact student flat-top from the folk era — the same factory as the higher models, in a smaller, lighter body. The LG-0 ran from 1958 until it was discontinued in 1974. This example falls in the 900000 serial block, commonly dated 1970–1972.
Solid spruce top over mahogany back and sides, ladder braced, with a set mahogany neck and a rosewood fretboard with pearl dot inlays. Scale is the classic Gibson 24.75", nut width is about 1 9/16", and the neck joins the body at the 14th fret with 20 frets total. Hardware is period-correct: rosewood bridge with an adjustable saddle, single-ring rosette, binding, and three-on-a-plate open-gear tuners. Natural finish. No electronics. Weighs 4 lbs 0 oz.
The voice is dry, warm, and woody — more compressed and mellow than a modern spruce dread, with a punchy midrange that works well for folk, fingerstyle, and light strumming. The concert-size body (roughly 14 1/4" wide) and slim neck make it an easy couch or travel guitar, and at exactly 4 lbs it is about as light as these get.
Condition is Good. Honest play wear — light scratches, small dings, and some finish checking consistent with age — but the top, back, and sides are solid, the neck is straight, the truss rod works, and it has been set up and plays cleanly up the neck. Frets have life left, tuners hold, and the bridge and saddle are original and functional.
