Here is a 2007 50th Anniversary Fender American Vintage '57 Reissue Mary Kaye Stratocaster. Includes a hard case, as well as the original paperwork and accessories. This is not the original case, but tweed w/ red plush interior just like the original would be. The 1957 Mary Kaye Strat is one of the most iconic guitars of all time, and this reissue nails the whole vibe. It has gold hardware and translucent Blonde finish, which has aged gracefully overtime, really adding to the vintage aesthetic. The neck has a soft-V/Medium-Full C profile, w/ medium frets and a vintage-correct fretboard radius of 7.25". The soft-V shape is fairly subtle in my opinion, and gradually tapers into more of a C shape as you move up the neck towards the 12th fret. The '57/'62 pickup set sounds incredible in this guitar, with a crystal-clear neck pickup and punchy bridge pickup. The in-between positions are chimey and bell-like, and the middle pickup is actually fantastic as well. I believe it was John Mayer who said to never underestimate the middle pickup, and that if a Strat has a great-sounding middle pickup, it's a great guitar. Can't argue with that, and I have definitely found myself staying on the middle pickup with this Strat! This guitar is set up with '10s and plays great with comfy action. Here are the highlights:

  • 2007 50th Anniversary American Vintage '57 Mary Kaye Strat (Blonde w/ gold hardware). Original paperwork and accessories (bridge cover, trem bar, 5-way switch). Non-Original but very similar tweed hard case w/ red interior.
  • All original and in Very Good condition overall, showing some light play wear, aging and general use. The finish has yellowed naturally over time, and is now a creamy-Blonde color instead of stark white like it would've been brand new. The current look is a lot more attractive, not to mention more vintage-accurate in my opinion!
  • 7.5 lb, nicely-balanced.
  • Soft-V to Medium-Full C neck, with depth measurements of .85" and .89" @ the 1st and 12th frets. Fairly subtle V shape, which gradually tapers into a C shape as you move up the neck towards the 12th fret.
  • Vintage-accurate 7.25" fretboard radius w/ medium frets (Fender specifies vintage-style frets, but these look and feel slightly bigger than typical vintage-accurate frets, which are small and not as tall).
  • 1 11/16" nut width
  • Fender '57/'62 pickup set, Master Vol, 2x Tone, vintage-correct 3-way switch (these come stock with a 3-way switch, but a 5-way switch is also included if you want to change it).

Condition: This guitar is in Very Good condition overall, showing some light play wear, aging and general use. Certainly not bad for a nearly 20-year-old guitar! Everything functions as it should with no issues. The finish has naturally aged over time, having turned from a stark white Blonde finish to more of a creamy/yellowed Blonde (this happens to all of them to varying degrees as the nitro clear coat yellows slightly). I think it looks fantastic, and adds to the vintage aesthetic! The gold hardware also shows a bit of aging, mostly just on the bridge saddles where your hand rests, though. The frets show a bit of light wear, but feel great to play on and are still nearly full height. Moving on to the rest of the guitar, there isn't too much to note, and certainly nothing out of the ordinary. There is some typical surface swirling/micro-scuffing in the clear coat, as well as a few tiny marks on the back of the guitar (which I have clearly pointed out in a photo). There is a bit of lacquer clear coat flaking around the edges of the tuners, which is, again, very typical, as the finish is fairly thin and doesn't have much to bond to in that area. Finally, you can see some small spots here and there on both edges of the fretboard where the finish has flaked off slightly from a player's hand and fingers rubbing against it. Like the clear coat around the tuners, the finish just doesn't have much to bond to there, so it doesn't take much for this to happen. The case is in great shape overall, showing a bit of general use on the outside. "USA Strat" is written on the side of the lid, next to the middle latch just above where the handle is when the case is closed, which is how it came to me. If you'd rather, I could ship the guitar in a generic black hard case instead, just let me know upon purchase.

All in all, a fantastic example of a collectible '57 Reissue Strat that was only made for 1 year! If you're looking for one in good shape that also plays great, with no modifications, this is an excellent choice. I don't think you'll find many out there that are 100% stock with the factory 3-way switch still in place!

*Note - Upon receiving the guitar, please let it acclimate to room temperature before opening the case and removing it. It's especially important with nitro-finished guitars to prevent lacquer checking/cracking. As always, when a guitar is being shipped to an area with a different climate, it's best to let it settle in for a few days before having any necessary setup adjustments made (if any) by a competent tech to fit your personal preference.

Please message me with any questions or concerns before submitting offers and/or payment and I will be happy to help. This guitar will be packaged extremely well using a heavy duty box and plenty of packing material to ensure it's safety during transit. It will also be insured for the full value. Signature required upon delivery. Sold as-is, no returns. Thank you!
