 You are looking at a classic Shure Brothers dynamic cardioid microphone from the 1990's era that has been cleaned and tested. This is the 2nd generation Mexican made Beta 58A model mics that are factory set at low impedance. This mic is a rugged design with great sound quality that are still being sold today though the 3rd gen newer mics have been made in China for the last 20 + years. The mic come with the original Shure A25 model mic clips shown as well as the brand new Auray exterior foam pop filter for improved sound performance.

 Shure originally introduced the Beta 58 model in the late 1980's which was a superior American made model but they stopped making them when production was moved to Mexico in the early to mid 1990's at which point the mic was renamed the Beta 58A.

 In a side by side comparison you can hear the difference between the two. It's not to say that the Beat 58A is a bad mic but the earlier model is absolutely golden.

 The Beta 58A is Low Z but it does have a slightly dirtier, brighter tone than the early Beta 58.

The Shure BETA 58A® is a high-output supercardioid dynamic vocal microphone designed for professional sound reinforcement and project studio recording. It has become a leading choice among vocalists and touring professionals worldwide. 

The Beta 58A maintains a true supercardioid pattern throughout its frequency range. The Beta 58A has a shaped frequency response that is ideal for close-up vocals. The superb performance of this microphone is not affected by rough handling because of its rugged construction, proven shock mount system, and hardened steel mesh grille. 

 The Beta 58A has excellent uni-directional characteristics as well. These mics are built like tanks and properly taken care of there is no reason this mic can't last 100 years. A real workhorse and one of the most rugged Shure mics ever built. This mic ideal for general broadcasting and singing. 

 While the Beta 58 is the same size and style of the SM-58 the Beta 58 came with a unique and appealing blue / grey paint scheme.

 As you can see there are typical signs of wear on the painted handle with small spots of paint loss, scratches and scuff marks from years of use. The front globe looks really nice however and it's free of dents, tarnish or odors. The inner foam insert / pop filters are original and in excellent condition. These help greatly with acoustics and prevents the dreaded "pops" from breathing or windy conditions. The Shure label looks pretty good too and completely legible.

 I'm also including the brand new exterior black foam Auray brand pop filter that fit like a glove and really cleans up the sound on this mic. You won't need it for every situation but again, you'll appreciate the difference with it on. You can really lean into the mic and give it 100% without any distortion.

 The XLR pins were cleaned for a perfect connection once the XLR cable is attached though no cable is provided.

 The microphone is a very conservative 7 on a scale of 1 - 10 physically speaking though some would rate higher. The real beauty of this mic is the sound it produces. Hook this up and you are ready for any live event.

  The mic comes with the original Shure A25 model mic clip. It's in very good condition with lite scratches and but it grips the mic firmly. It's an all plastic design that provides a good amount of tilt up and down and it will screw onto any desk or floor stand.

 If you demand a high quality Shure dynamic cardioid mic to use on the daily then this just might be for you.
