About this listing
You're looking at a 1966 Gibson Melody Maker in its original Pelham Blue finish - and an extremely rare version of this model. Gibson offered a matching painted neck as a factory option, but very, very few Melody Makers actually left the factory with one. This is one of them, which makes it a lot harder to come by than a standard Pelham Blue example with the clear finished necks.Weighing in at a light 6lbs 5oz, this one has all the classic Melody Maker vintage vibe - Rosewood fretboard with pearloid inlays, and that thin, resonant SG-shape body that makes these such fun players. It's in good overall condition - checking throughout the finish and a few dings/chips here and there, all fully cosmetic. Frets are in good shape. No headstock breaks - there is a large finish check at the base of the headstock where it meets the neck, but it's in the finish only and doesn't continue up into the headstock itself (see pics). All electronics and hardware are original, including the vibrato unit and bar - the bar wasn't attached when I got the guitar, so it'll need new hardware to fasten it back on, but everything you see is factory original.Comes with a vintage Gibson case - I can't confirm whether it's original to this guitar, but it's a great period-correct home for it either way.The guitar will be very well packed and quickly shipped via UPS with tracking and insurance included. Thanks for looking and please let me know if you have any questions!*** Please note, I am not a professional luthier and set my guitars up to my personal preferences. Wood is relatively sensitive, and differences in temperature, humidity or during shipping can result in changes to how the guitar plays. A professional setup is always recommended when buying a guitar. ***
