Apogee AD-16X (2011) with X-HD Card, Firmware 3.00

Description

Apogee AD-16X, 2011 production, with the X-HD option card installed. Firmware on the cards is upgraded to 3.00 so the converter connects to Pro Tools HD and HDX and appears as an Avid HD I/O. Light studio use. Selling because the room is moving to Dante. The sound is still magic.

If you have outboard gear and need to record this into your DAW but don't want to spend thousands on high-end converters, this thing is what you need. They can still be connected if you don't have Pro Tools using Apogees Symphony cards or using their X Firewire cards and then use a FW to USB converter. Remember these were top notch A grade converters and still compete with the very best out there.


Units Available

  • There are 3 AD16x units available (I used 2 and kept 1 as spare but never needed the spare so it has even less use but it has been tested and works perfectly. All have the X-HD card)
  • All units are in perfect faultless operating conditions.

Condition

  • All 16 channels work.
  • No defects. No repair history.
  • Analog inputs still calibrated.
  • Kept in a smoke-free, air-conditioned studio.
  • They have little operating hours since music is a hobby (not my main job).
  • X-HD card fitted and working.

What it is

  • 16 channels of premium 24-bit A/D conversion, up to 192 kHz
  • Apogee C777 clocking, the same technology as Big Ben
  • Soft Limit, per channel or global
  • UV22HR dither to 16-bit
  • Analog input level adjustable from +6 to +24 dBu, also compatible with −10 dBV
  • Quoted specs: 120 dB A-weighted dynamic range, THD+N −110 dB
  • 1U rack, 100–240 V

Pro Tools

  • X-HD card installed. DigiLink primary port to an HD Core, Accel, or HDX card. Expansion port for daisy-chaining another Apogee unit.
  • Firmware 3.00. On HDX the unit emulates an Avid HD I/O and is compatible with Pro Tools HD 10 and 11.

Other connections

  • 16 balanced analog inputs on two DB-25, Tascam pinout
  • 16 channels of AES/EBU out on DB-25, single-wire or double-wire
  • 4× Toslink: ADAT, S/MUX II, S/MUX IV
  • Word clock in and out on BNC, switchable termination
  • AES and ADAT stay active with the X-HD card installed

Not included

  • No DigiLink cables.
  • No DB25 cables.
  • If you are in the US, you will need your own power cable as mine is EU one.
