About this listing
This RARE 1980 Tokai Love Rock LS-50 is a vintage Japanese-made Les Paul-style guitar from Tokai's early Love Rock period. The LS-50 was designed as a faithful interpretation of the classic 1958 Gibson Les Paul, and this particular example features the distinctive Gold Top finish associated with the LS-50/LS-60 models of the period.
The guitar features a mahogany body with a maple top, mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard, along with a pair of Tokai ’57 Vintage MKII humbuckers manufactured by Gotoh. These pickups are characteristic of the early Tokai instruments and complement the traditional Les Paul-style construction and overall design.
Vintage character
This is an original-era Tokai from the early 1980s, rather than a modern reissue. The combination of the 1980 production date, Gold Top finish, 1958 Les Paul-inspired specification and Tokai/Gotoh ’57 Vintage MKII pickups makes it a particularly interesting example of the early Love Rock series.
Sonically the guitar delivers exactly what one expects from a strong LS-60: full and warm low end, focused and present midrange, and a clear but smooth top end with excellent sustain.

The guitar is in very good to excellent vintage condition considering its age. It has naturally accumulated some cosmetic signs of use over more than four decades, including minor scratches, small dings and finish wear.
The most noticeable cosmetic damage is on the back of the body. These marks are visible in the photographs and have been taken into account when describing the condition of the instrument.
Overall, the guitar presents very well for a 1980 instrument and retains the character and appearance expected from a vintage Japanese Tokai of this period.
The guitar will be packed carefully and securely for shipping. Additional photographs, measurements or other details can be provided upon request.
Please note that this is a vintage instrument, so normal age-related marks and cosmetic imperfections should be considered part of its history and character.
