This is an amazing synth. Quite possibly one of the best, intermediate wave table synths money can buy. If somebody told me they believed this to be the greatest "value" synth on the market I think most people would be hard pressed to disagree with them.

The sheer diversity of sound the Multi/Poly offers makes this one of the only synths I've ever come across under $1k, that can give the illusion of a several synth setups going at once. The amount of customization one can do with this is incredible, and what's even better, is that the attached software allows you to learn the Korg Multi/Poly workflow on your computer, without having to menu dive. What's better is that learning alongside your computer doesn't hinder learning how to navigate the synth in a DAWless scenario, but instead expands your ability, making sound design on somewhat intimidating synth surprisingly easy to penetrate after a weekend deciphering your favorite presets.

Speaking of sound design, do you know what kind of sounds four layers; each with four oscillators, four envelopes, two independent filters, five LFOs per Program, layer specific FX, and an onboard sequencer can produce? Enough to form a full fledged band on one set of keys. This doesn't even go into the mod knobs the wave shaping and the keyboard splitting. That's right, you can split the keyboard into 4 layers. You see I wasn't joking when I said this thing can form a one man band. That's what I'm talking about when I say the sheer value of this synth is the best of the Korg run.

If you couple this, with a cheap but quality mono synth (Db-01), a slightly robust groovebox/drum machine for the sequencer/midi brain and rhythm, and a 1010 Bento Bluebox mixer/recorder, you'll ve a fully fledged DAWless setup that will be capable of replicating a studio carrying well over $12k in equipment easily. All because of the sheer volume of sounds this piece is capable of producing.

So why buy this specific one? Well I purchased mine directly from Japan and it's the best shape that you'll on the used market. Comes with a travel bag, the power chord, and (as if it couldn't get any better) a manual that still has an unused Korg Software Bundle Key.
