A superb example of the Fender Japan TL69-75 Pink Paisley Telecaster, from the mid-1980s and carrying the A-series serial A026833.
The TL69-75 was Fender Japan's recreation of the iconic late-1960s Pink Paisley Telecaster, and these Japanese examples have become highly sought-after for their vintage styling, distinctive paisley finish and excellent build quality. This example has a particularly attractive, well-aged appearance, with the vivid Pink Paisley finish showing natural-looking fading, discolouration and plenty of honest marks and small dings from nearly four decades of use. The finish has developed a great vintage character while retaining the striking pink, gold and green paisley pattern.
The guitar features the classic Telecaster specification, including:
- Pink Paisley finish
- Maple neck and fingerboard
- Vintage-style Telecaster body
- Vintage-style three-saddle bridge
- Two Telecaster single-coil pickups
- Traditional Telecaster control layout
- Fender Japan construction
- A026833 serial number
- Made in Japan neck stamp
The guitar is in very good vintage condition, with the expected cosmetic wear for an instrument of this age. There are numerous small knocks, chips and areas of finish wear, as shown in the photographs. The ageing is part of the appeal of this particular example and gives it considerably more character than a pristine modern reproduction. The Pink Paisley finish itself appears original and has not been refinished. The guitar also retains its period-correct appearance throughout, with no obvious major modifications visible.
Dating
The A-series serial places this guitar in the mid-1980s. Comparable A-series TL69-75 Pink Paisley examples are documented from 1985–86, so I am dating this example conservatively to c.1985–86 rather than making an unsupported claim of a specific production year.
Serial: A026833
Overall
This is a great opportunity to acquire an early/mid-1980s Fender Japan Pink Paisley Telecaster with the right combination of vintage appearance, desirable finish and genuine age.
The combination of the Pink Paisley finish, maple neck and distinctive Fender Japan construction makes these considerably more interesting than an ordinary MIJ Telecaster.
Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description. The guitar shows genuine vintage wear throughout, but presents extremely well and has a fantastic overall look.
A particularly cool, honest and very collectible Fender Japan Pink Paisley Telecaster.
