OVERVIEW by Gemini Notebook
The Endorphin.es Squawk Dirty is a compact 6hp stereo VCF (voltage-controlled filter) featuring 96 kHz / 16-bit digital audio processing. It provides 8 zero-delay feedback filter algorithms derived from Endorphin.es' Grand Terminal module, which can be selected manually or swept automatically using Meta CV scanning.
Built-in Post-Filter VCA: Features a dedicated, unattenuated VCA CV input ( accepting 0 to +5V) for controlling final signal volume.
Additional High-Pass Filter (HPF): A secondary serial high-pass filter allows you to quickly cut boomy low-end frequencies regardless of which main filter mode is active.
Stereo Widening (All-Access Pass): An all-pass mode that applies up to 1/3 of a second of delay to Output 2 to widen the stereo field.
Flexible Routing & Gain Staging: Supports mono, mono-to-stereo, or true stereo setups, with rear trim pots (in1_trim / in2_trim) to adjust input sensitivity between Eurorack modular and line-level signals.
The Eight Filter Modes
The module includes eight distinct zero-delay feedback filter types:
Mode I — 24 dB/Oct Transistor Ladder Low-Pass: Modeled after the classic 4-pole Minimoog low-pass filter.
Mode II — MS-20 12 dB/Oct OTA Low-Pass: Modeled after the Korg MS-20 filter, featuring a characteristically powerful and dirty resonance.
Mode III — 12 dB/Oct Low-Pass Gate (LPG): A non-resonant virtual vactrol LPG where the resonance knob controls the decay closing time, producing classic "Buchla Bongo" percussive sounds when pinged with a trigger.
Mode IV — 12 dB/Oct Resonant Low-Pass Gate: A variation of Mode III featuring a fixed fast decay and full control over ringing resonance.
Mode V — 12 dB/Oct DJ Isolator-Style Bipolar Filter: A state-variable filter that is unfiltered at the 12 o'clock (noon) position, operates as a low-pass filter when turned counter-clockwise (CCW), and operates as a high-pass filter when turned clockwise (CW)
Mode VI — 12 dB/Oct High-Pass Filter: A single state-variable high-pass filter spanning the full range of the cutoff knob.
Mode VII — 12 dB/Oct Band-Pass Filter: A state-variable band-pass filter where the Cutoff knob sets the center frequency and the Resonance knob adjusts the bandwidth
Mode VIII — Comb Filter: Recreates a series of harmonically related notch filters; functions like a phaser in static mode, a flanger when modulated, or a resonator when resonance is turned fully clockwise.
