Up for sale is A VINTAGE, UNIQUE, SHURE SM57 UNIDYNE III MICROPHONE WITH A RIGHT-ANGLE HINGE IN THE BODY. I was told that the Engineers at A&M Records modified a number of SM57s for special applications. It was said that the A&M Records facility has, or had, a Machine Shop where they created the tools they needed for challenging Recording applications. One such tool was an SM57 with a Right-Angle Hinge that would allow them to more conveniently place Microphones in tight spots, especially on Drums. They did a very professional job so that it fooled me into thinking that was an actual SHURE product. Indeed it is a great collector item and a piece of history!

This Microphone is part of collection Mics being sold off because the owner suffered a major health episode and is forced to close his studio. His studio was in his home where it was a smoke-free and temperature-controlled environment. The owner is a highly respected Recording Engineer who has taken extremely good care of his equipment.

If anyone out there has information regarding this unique Mic, please share!
