Shin-Ei surf and siren special effects guitar pedal Multi effect 1970s - Chrome

This is one of those guitar pedals that I’m pretty sure I manifested with my mind. No one would intentionally INVENT this pedal. It just doesn’t make sense…so it has to have just appeared like those monoliths in 2001.

To those who haven’t seen these things before it’s a wah/volume pedal that has some extra (some would say INCREDIBLY STUPID) features. This one features a surf/hurricane switch which makes a wind sound to accompany your guitar playing and a “siren switch“ that once pressed begins a rising tone that doesn’t stop until you hit the switch again.

Now you might say “what the hell you talking about Willis?” To which I would say “no clue buddy”. I suspect this was Japan’s reaction to the 60s surf guitar craze but that’s just a guess. What I DO KNOW is if you’re looking for an annoying death wail for the end of your song about radioactive beavers then you probably need this pedal.

It is creeping up on half a century old at this point so it shows its age here and there but it seems to work well. It’s not the most heavy duty pedal build I’ve ever seen but it definitely does what it says on the tin. Check out the video below if you don’t believe me. I’m sure beringer will clone this at some point when it gets done ripping off all the designs that people actually want but you can get it here and now and be ahead of the curve when the inevitable resurgence of novelty surf records comes around.
