Modifications, Repairs, and Condition

This instrument has been professionally refretted and fitted with a replacement nut. Signs of previous fretwork can be seen around the neck, including areas of over-finish extending from the fingerboard onto the back of the neck. There is also some localized chipping around the fret edges, suggesting that the instrument may have undergone more than one refret over its lifetime.

The neck date stamp is very faint and difficult to decipher, so the pot codes have been used as the primary reference for dating the instrument. Some additional soldering is present in certain areas, and therefore we cannot confirm that every component is completely original. However, based on the identifiable parts, components dating from approximately 1973–1974 appear to be present.

The date stamp on the neck pickup is also very faint and difficult to identify. There are visible heat marks around the solder joints on the front pickup cover, although the reason for this is unknown. The braided lead wire on the rear pickup has been replaced from the base of the pickup.

The tuner area shows no evidence of having been fitted with a different type of tuner, and there are no apparent additional mounting holes. The original F-style tuners appear to have been retained.

The body shows various playing marks, including dents and finish chips, while the sides exhibit more noticeable areas of finish loss. The body also has an overall appearance consistent with a clear lacquer over-finish.

The neck is currently showing a slight back-bow tendency with the truss rod in a free position. It is playable with a standard action setup, although further lowering the action may require additional fretwork. The position marker at the 3rd fret is slightly raised; however, the exact cause could not be determined.

Despite the various repairs and modifications over the years, these details are part of the history of this vintage instrument. It remains a highly playable example with plenty of character, making it well suited to players looking for a vintage instrument to enjoy without being overly concerned about cosmetic condition.
