Selling my Ensoniq SQ-80, complete with the original paper manual and the original box.

Condition: The synth is in excellent shape. I've tested every key, button, and the display, and everything works 100%. The only things I can't vouch for are the floppy drive and the cartridge slot, since I don't have a disk or cartridge to test them with.

This is actually the second SQ-80 I've owned, and I've had a lot of fun with it, but it's time to pass it on to someone else.

About the synth: The SQ-80 is a late-'80s hybrid from 1988–89. It builds on the classic ESQ-1 with 75 digital waveforms (including sampled attack transients like bowed strings, plucks, mallets, and breath) running through real analog 4-pole lowpass filters with resonance. Each voice can stack up to 3 waveforms, and there are 3 LFOs per voice for some wild modulation. The 61-key keyboard has velocity and polyphonic aftertouch, so each key responds independently. It also has an onboard 8-track sequencer. It's great for pads, organs, analog-style sounds, and effects.

What really sets it apart from a lot of synths of its era is that it's 8-part multitimbral over MIDI. With 8 voices total, you can basically run eight mono synths from it at once. It's easy to set up. I sequenced mine from my Elektron Digitakt, sending notes over MIDI, and playing multiple synth parts at the same time.

Pickup / Shipping: This thing is sturdy and heavy. Because of that and its age, I'm not offering shipping by default. It would be expensive, and I'd worry about it surviving the trip.
