A standout collector’s piece from Zildjian’s golden era of European-style B8 bronze: an original 1st-generation 20" Zildjian AMIR Ride Cymbal from the early 1980s.
This is the authentic original release featuring the rare, all-caps block-letter "AMIR" logo. It is markedly superior in build quality, weight, and acoustic complexity to the far more common later reissues with the lowercase "amir" script. Crafted from premium B8 sheet bronze, these early block-logo models punch well above their weight class, delivering the rich, musical character and cutting attack that earned the original run its cult following. The first gen AMIRs are totally different in sound and character than what followed them. They sound like pro/semi-pro cymbals.
Sound Profile:
- Ping & Definition: Crisp, bright stick articulation that sits effortlessly on top of a mix without sounding harsh.
- Wash & Decay: Wonderfully controlled, warm B8 wash that stays disciplined under heavy playing.
- Bell: Piercing, clear, and highly musical with fast projection—ideal for rock, pop, funk, and studio tracking.
Condition Details:
- Structural: Superb vintage condition. No cracks, No keyholing, and No edge flea bites. The mounting hole is round; edges are smooth 360° around.
- Cosmetic: Shows light patina and gentle surface markings consistent with a preserved 40-year-old instrument. The sought-after original block-letter graphics and Zildjian stamps remain clearly legible.
