Vintage 1950s-60s Kay K54T Deluxe Tenor Banjo 4-String Flame Maple Resonator w/ Case

Vintage Kay K54T Deluxe 4-string tenor banjo, dating approximately from the late 1950s to 1960s and made in Chicago, USA.

This is a really nice surviving example of Kay’s Deluxe tenor banjo. It features the attractive shaded sunburst/flamed maple resonator with bound edge, maple neck, 16 tension hooks and the classic vintage Kay headstock logo.

The banjo is in very good to excellent condition for its age. There are normal light scratches, marks and finish wear consistent with a vintage instrument, but overall it presents extremely well. The flamed maple resonator back in particular looks great.

I recently installed a new banjo head and a fresh set of strings, so it is ready to play.

As far as I can determine, the instrument itself appears to retain its original hardware and components aside from the newly replaced head and strings. The original-style tuners, bridge, tailpiece, tension hardware and resonator are all present.
