Up for sale is a vintage 1962 Slingerland 10x14-inch parade marching snare drum in a natural mahogany finish. This drum features the classic black and silver Niles/Chicago-era badge, maple hoops, and its original center-lug single-tension hardware.Bonus Features & Accessories Included:
- Rogers Thigh Rest: The drum comes equipped with a vintage 1960s-era Rogers leg/thigh rest attachment, which is securely mounted and fully functional for traditional sling playing.
- Mounted Drum Key Clip: Includes a convenient shell-mounted clip holding an period-correct vintage drum key right on the drum.
Condition Details:
- Shell & Finish: The mahogany shell is structurally solid with typical light surface scuffs and minor scratches appropriate for its age.
- Hoops: Please note there is a clean ply separation/splinter on one of the maple hoops (visible under the tension hook in the closeup photo). It is still structurally intact, holds tension perfectly, and the drum plays exactly as it should, but it is a notable cosmetic flaw.
- Hardware: The chrome hardware shows minor vintage patina but functions smoothly. The strainer, throw-off, and snare wires are all present and operational.
This is a phenomenal, ready-to-play rig for vintage drum collectors, parade drum enthusiasts, or recording studios looking for that classic deep "fat" 1960s wood snare tone.
