Stadium-shaking Class H power
When we first got our hands on the RB Legacy 1001 here at Sweetwater, one thing was immediately clear: this amplifier was built for stadium-shaking output. Rated at 1,000-watt bursts into 2 ohms, this bass head's Class H power amplifier comprises two power supplies: one dedicated to lower output levels and one designed to tackle higher output levels. This design not only bolsters the amplifier's reliability, but also enables you to ride the rails at maximum output with zero worries about overheating or blowouts. Even at top volumes, the RB Legacy 1001 remains responsive and defined. Moreover, pushing this amp hard produces a gut-punching growl that's — in our opinion — an absolute thrill ride. Nevertheless, if you're aiming for something a bit tamer, the RB Legacy 1001 includes an adjustable limiter designed to pull your signal off the rail to keep your output clean.

A universe of tones at your disposal
The Gallien-Krueger RB Legacy 1001 is far from a one-trick pony. It includes three filters — Bump, Contour, and Presence — that enable you to revoice the amplifier for a bottom-heavy, mid-scooped, or cutting sound, respectively. Best of all, regardless of the selected filters, the amplifier maintains a neutral volume, so you won't need to keep adjusting your output level every time you tweak your tone. Like all GK bass amplifiers, the RB Legacy 1001 features an active variable-Q EQ to shape your sound. You also get a Boost switch for fattening up your sound, which you can also use to drive the amp into distortion. An Edge knob is also on hand for putting the final touches on your tone.
