Martin 3K Soprano Ukulele circa 1920’s
This is a beautiful Martin 3K from the 1920's, I believe. It is in very good condition. The Koa is a honey color, and nice and fiery! It has a great sound and volume and nice low action, and playability. There is a reason so many great players such as Cliff Edwards played this model. It is just a thing of beauty and a great musical instrument.
This ukulele is in wonderful cosmetic shape for being 100 years old. It has what I believe to be its original tuners. I do not see any discernable cracks or repairs on it(which is rare). There are a couple of minor blemishes that can be seen on the photos.
The only “issues” it has, I see as “character”. There is a very clean, nicely made hole drilled on the headstock, done, I suppose, to hang it up on a nail (see photo). It does have a slight smell of cigarette if you get up close to the sound hole. Both of these have not been a problem and obviously do not affect its playing.
I had always wanted one of these beauties and have enjoyed this instrument but am ready to let it go. I am trying to price this lower than many 3K’s you will see for sale.
