2008 Fender Highway One Stratocaster HSS — 3-Tone Sunburst, Satin Nitro, All-Original Body/Neck/Hardware with Vintage DiMarzio Pickguard Assembly — OHSC Included
Overview
A genuine USA-made Fender Highway One Stratocaster HSS (Model 0111760300, 2006–2011 production), confirmed via Fender's own serial database from the stamped serial Z8103032. This is an all-original guitar — body, neck, bridge, tuners, and satin nitrocellulose finish are completely stock — with one significant, high-quality modification: the pickguard assembly has been swapped for a complete, untouched 1980s DiMarzio harness (pickups, pots, wiring, and copper shielding, all matched to each other as a single vintage unit). The guitar has also just had a complete professional fret level and crown, so it's playing as good as it looks.
Why This One's Special
Highway One was Fender's USA-built, no-frills workhorse line — real nitro finish, real vintage-style hardware, built in Corona at a more accessible price point than the American Standard/Series guitars of the same era. They've become increasingly sought-after because you get genuine USA construction and a satin nitro finish that ages and breathes like a much older instrument, without vintage-guitar fragility or price.
This example takes that a step further: it pairs the Highway One's light alder body (7 lbs — genuinely light for a Strat) and aged, naturally-sheened satin nitro finish with a swapped-in 1980s DiMarzio pickguard assembly — three single-coil DiMarzio pickups reading around 6.3k each, landing squarely in vintage-1950s Strat pickup output territory, plus original DiMarzio 250K pots and period wiring. It's a genuinely cool combination: USA Fender build quality and a nitro finish that only gets better with age, married to a hand-wound vintage-spec pickup set from the era when DiMarzio was building single coils to go head to head with old Fender units. On top of that, it's just come out of a full fret level and crown, so it plays clean and low with no dead spots.
What's Original vs. Modified
- Original to the guitar: body, neck, tuners, bridge/tremolo, neck plate, satin nitrocellulose finish
- Recent work: complete professional fret level and crown
- Modified: pickguard assembly only — replaced with a complete 1980s DiMarzio harness (pickups, pots, wiring, shielding). Note: this guitar left the factory as an HSS (bridge humbucker + 2 single coils, Greasebucket tone circuit); the current build is a full single-coil (SSS) configuration via the DiMarzio harness, so the bridge pickup route was originally cut for a humbucker — worth a look/mention for buyers if there's any visible routing gap around the bridge pickup
