The iconic Yamaha CS-80 is one the most sought after synthesizers of all time. This legendary synthesizer combines a massive 8-voice bi-timbral synth engine with velocity sensitive, polyphonic aftertouch keys, and a felt ribbon controller to create unrivaled expressive capabilities that defined the music of its era. The CS-80 made the sounds used on hit records by Vangelis, Michael Jackson, Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, Toto, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, and many others. Despite its huge influence, less than 1000 units were made during its production run, and only a fraction of those still exist today, making the CS-80 a rare and highly sought after item for collectors.

This CS-80 has been lovingly restored and calibrated by our techs, and includes the stand, the lid, and hard-to-find expression pedal. The power supply has been rebuilt, nearly every circuit board has been checked out and brought up to spec, and the synth has been fully calibrated - an intensive process that tunes the voice boards, filters, VCA response, filter and VCA envelopes, aftertouch and velocity sensitivity, chorus, ring mod, etc. All of the CMOS logic chips have been replaced. The proprietary Yamaha VCO chips have been matched for similar drift characteristics, allowing for the most stable tuning. The ribbon controller has been completely rebuilt with a new contact spring and new felt. In other words, this classic synth has been brought to factory standards, and future-proofed to the fullest extent possible.
