Kremona is a historic European guitar maker whose craftsmanship truly deserves to be discovered. Founded in Bulgaria in 1924, the company is one of the few European manufacturers to have preserved a genuine tradition of lutherie while developing instruments that offer an extremely compelling alternative to Spanish-made guitars. With the Rosa Bella, Kremona delivers an authentic, elegant and remarkably well-built flamenco guitar that perfectly reflects this philosophy: focusing on quality materials, serious craftsmanship and a genuine musical personality rather than simply relying on the prestige of a name.

The first thing that immediately sets this Rosa Bella apart is its particularly appealing construction. It combines a solid European Spruce top with solid Bulgarian Ash back and sides, an original combination that gives the instrument a distinctive identity both visually and sonically. The Honduran Cedar neck, Indian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge complete an exceptionally serious design, with materials more commonly found on instruments in considerably higher price ranges.

The choice of Bulgarian Ash is particularly interesting. Less conventional than the woods traditionally used on Spanish flamenco guitars, it provides a dynamic, clear and precise response while retaining that wonderfully lively quality associated with fully solid-wood instruments. Combined with the European Spruce top, it allows the Rosa Bella to deliver a highly responsive voice, with a crisp attack, excellent note definition and particularly effective projection.

It immediately delivers the qualities that make a true flamenco guitar so appealing: a fast response under the fingers, a dry and precise attack, and an ability to naturally emphasize the nuances of the right-hand technique. Rasgueados benefit from excellent clarity, attacks remain crisp and golpes come through naturally thanks to the instrument's percussive character. The Rosa Bella has the kind of dynamic response that allows the guitarist to truly interact with the instrument, moving instantly from light and subtle playing to much more energetic attacks.

That said, it is not limited to a purely traditional approach to flamenco. The richness provided by its solid-wood construction also allows it to retain plenty of musicality for melodic passages, arpeggios and more nuanced accompaniment. The Spruce top provides enough clarity and refinement to keep every note well defined, while the Ash body contributes to a lively and balanced response. The result is a guitar with plenty of character without becoming excessively specialized.

The Rosa Bella also retains all the essential characteristics of a genuine flamenco guitar: a full-size 4/4 body, a 650 mm scale length, a 52 mm nut width and a design focused on fast response and expressiveness. The feel under the fingers is direct and natural, with that particular sense of connection between player and instrument that makes it equally well suited to traditional techniques and more modern approaches to flamenco.

Ultimately, it is the Rosa Bella's price-to-performance ratio that makes this Kremona particularly compelling. A European-made guitar featuring a solid European Spruce top and, most notably, solid Bulgarian Ash back and sides is a relatively rare proposition in this price category. Kremona once again demonstrates that a great European tradition of lutherie can offer a genuine alternative to the better-known instruments on the market, with carefully selected materials, serious craftsmanship and a strong individual identity.

The Rosa Bella is therefore an excellent choice for guitarists looking for an authentic, responsive and expressive flamenco guitar while also wanting something a little different from the usual options. Its combination of European Spruce and solid Bulgarian Ash gives it a personality all of its own: precise, dynamic and percussive. A particularly exciting discovery for anyone looking to step into the world of genuine European-made flamenco guitars, with serious construction, carefully selected materials and a price-to-performance ratio that deserves serious consideration.
