For sale is a 1978 Ibanez Artist 2700, the short-lived "Artist Custom" flagship, built at the FujiGen Gakki factory in Japan (Serial: H786118, August 1978). Produced for only around 18 months in 1977 and 1978, the 2700 combined the Artist body and headstock with the neck-through construction and active electronics of the Musician series. It was the top of the Ibanez line at the time and does not come up often.

Construction is a 7-piece maple and walnut neck running the full length of the guitar, with ash body wings laminated with maple and zebrawood, in a dark stained natural finish that shows the laminate stripe down the centre. The ebony fretboard carries 24 frets with abalone dot inlays. The neck-through design and the brass sustain block under the Gibraltar bridge give it exceptional sustain and note definition.

Electronics are the original Ibanez Super 88 humbuckers with a Tri-Sound switch for each pickup (humbucking, single-coil, phase), plus the onboard active EQ system: master volume, master tone, 3-band active EQ (bass, mid, treble) with preamp gain, and an EQ bypass toggle. Fully original, all functions working.
