Used Sabian 14" Hoop Crasher

The Used Sabian 14" Hoop Crasher is a unique effects cymbal designed in collaboration with Jojo Mayer to add a quick, trashy, white-noise accent directly to a snare drum or tom. Its dual-ring design creates an aggressive, percussive response while allowing the drum's natural tone to remain part of the overall sound.

The two loosely connected B20 bronze rings react quickly when the drum is struck, producing a sharp, compressed crash effect that works especially well for funk, hip-hop, electronic music, pop, and experimental setups. The upper ring features multiple cutouts to reduce weight and increase movement, while the lower ring uses Sabian's Air-Wave design to minimize contact and prevent air lock against the drumhead.

The Hoop Crasher can be placed directly on a 14" snare or tom, making it an easy way to add an additional effects voice without adding another cymbal stand. It can be played together with the drum or struck independently for a range of short, trashy accents and layered sounds.
