Excellent-condition Doepfer MAQ16/3 hardware sequencer, housed in a beautiful Shady Mapleworks 4U birch enclosure with a 20-degree slant.

Fully tested & in perfect working order.

All 48 steps and LEDs, controls, buttons, MIDI operation, CV/Gate outputs, clock/synchronization and sequencer functions have been checked.

The MAQ itself is in excellent cosmetic condition for its age, with only very minor blemishes from normal studio use. Please see photos for the exact cosmetic condition.

The sequencer is running firmware version 3.61. Estimated production range: 1998-2005

The MIDI input & output jacks professionally serviced and reinforced after becoming loose and has remained solid since the repair.

The original-style power supply has also been replaced with a new Mean Well power adapter, providing a high-quality modern power supply for the unit.

Shady Mapleworks Birch Enclosure

The MAQ is installed in a purpose-built Shady Mapleworks 4U birch enclosure. The enclosure has a 20-degree slant that places the controls at a very comfortable working angle and turns the rackmount MAQ into a great-looking, self-contained desktop instrument.

About the MAQ16/3

The MAQ16/3 is a three-row, 16-step hardware sequencer developed by Doepfer with input from Kraftwerk. Each of its three rows provides 16 dedicated knobs, giving immediate hands-on control over sequences without relying on a computer or touchscreen.

The three rows can be used for traditional note sequencing or for controlling other MIDI parameters, and the MAQ provides both MIDI and analog CV/Gate connectivity. It is equally at home sequencing vintage analog synthesizers, MIDI instruments, or a combination of the two.

It has a wonderfully direct way of working: turn the knobs, start the sequence, and shape patterns in real time. With 48 physical step controls in front of you, it encourages experimentation and performance with a direct, hands-on workflow that makes shaping and evolving sequences intuitive and engaging.
