Profile Silhouette Telecaster MIJ c.1980 - 50s Style, Diliberto 55 Pickups, Bigsby B5

Profile Silhouette Telecaster (MIJ, c. 1980) — 50s Style, Diliberto '55 Pickups, Bigsby B5

Up for sale is a rare Profile Silhouette, a Japanese-made Telecaster-style guitar from around 1980. Profile guitars were built in Japan during the so-called "lawsuit era" and sold mainly through an Australian music retailer, so they were never widely exported and rarely show up for sale. They are said to pre-date Fender Japan, and the factory is often attributed to Chushin Gakki (maker of early Charvel and Jackson Japan guitars), though that has never been fully confirmed.

This one is built as a faithful replica of a 1950s Telecaster, including vintage-style truss rod adjustment at the body end of the neck, just like the originals. Unbound body with a natural finish and black pickguard.

About the pickups:

Diliberto Pickups is a boutique pickup maker from Argentina, highly regarded by players across Latin America. Every pickup is hand-wound in small batches with vintage-correct materials. The '55 Tele set is voiced after mid-50s Telecaster pickups: bright, punchy bridge with classic snap and twang, and a warm, round neck. These are high-end boutique pickups, not stock replacements.
