Sugi DS496 B&W 324 24F / BUE Resin / AT / A-MAHO 2P / PLB 2021 - PLB

This is a highly uncommon custom-built Sugi DS496, with its most striking feature being the full Burl Resin Top. Natural burl figuring is combined with purple resin, with layers of blue-green, black, gray, and golden wood grain appearing differently depending on the viewing angle. The result is a truly one-of-a-kind appearance that cannot be replicated.

Beyond the distinctive top, one of the most collectible aspects of this guitar is its Aqua Timber Maple neck.

Aqua Timber is old-growth recovered timber that had remained submerged underwater for an extended period of time. The guitar includes the original Certificate of Authenticity. According to the certificate, the timber used was already approximately 200–500 years old when it was originally cut, and was later submerged underwater for approximately 75–150 years, making it an exceptionally rare and unique material.

The fingerboard is made from Black & White Ebony, featuring naturally contrasting light and dark figuring. Combined with White Pearl Dot inlays, it complements the Burl Resin Top beautifully and gives the entire instrument a very cohesive visual character.

The guitar is equipped with two Sugi Original PAF Humbuckers, paired with a Master Volume, Master Tone, and 5-Way Lever Switch. While retaining a traditional dual-humbucker configuration, the 5-way switching provides additional tonal flexibility.

Hardware includes GOTOH SGS510 tuning machines and a Wilkinson by GOTOH VG300 Tremolo. The gold hardware works especially well with the purple resin top and the Black See-through Finish on the back, giving the guitar a thoroughly custom appearance from the wood selection and finish to the hardware configuration.

This is not simply a guitar built around exotic and visually striking woods. From the Aqua Timber Maple neck and Black & White Ebony fingerboard to the Sugi Original pickups and carefully selected hardware, every aspect of this instrument reflects the quality and attention to detail expected from a true Sugi Custom build.
