The PCH X1 is a single-channel active direct interface. It is phantom-powered with transformer isolation, has a high-impedance buffered 1/4" input, a balanced XLR output switchable between mic and line level, a passive 1/4" thru output, a ground lift switch, and a three-position high-pass filter (off, 240Hz, 80Hz).

When only the left input is used, the mono signal is routed to both XLR outputs; connecting both inputs allows true stereo operation. The chassis is 3mm extruded aluminium.

Strymon describes the PCH X1 as a sonically transparent direct interface designed to handle powerful pedalboard and amp modeller outputs without distortion, quoting a frequency response flat to within half a dB from below 10Hz to above 80kHz. It combines phantom power, transformer isolation and switchable high-pass filtering in a single-channel active DI.
