I’ve owned most of the Komet lineup, and the KAC30 is one of the ones I’d put at the top.
I’ve had this amp next to a real vintage AC30, and I preferred the Komet. It has the chime, dimension and elasticity you’d want from that family of sound, but it doesn’t stop there. The cleans are beautiful, but hit the switch and it gets into a Trainwreck-style version of top-boost with more harmonic spray and gain.
Cranked up, it’s the kind of amp you can run from the guitar volume and barely touch anything else. Clean it up from the guitar, lean into it for breakup, or just let it go.
A lot of amps get described as “AC30-inspired” but this doesn’t feel like an imitation of one. It feels like Komet took an AC30 and ran with it.
If you know what these are, you know they don’t turn up constantly. I’ve owned enough Komets to be picky about them, and this is untouchable. Comes in a $200 upgraded head shell.
