Fender Baritone Offset Telecaster Custom Build

One of my all time favorite Baritone builds right here.

I made this guitar after getting frustrated with the lack of options for buying baritones, especially in the Fender space. Short of a few models that really lean a lot more toward the heavier metal/doom scene there just aren't a lot of bari's out there, even less so in a gorgeous offset like this, so I took matters into my own hands.

This axe started it's life as a Squier Paranormal Series Offset Telecaster in charcoal black metallic, one of the more beautiful finishes I've come across. One of the cooler things about this particular model isn't just the tele pickup configuration in an offset body style, but also the fun ability to utilize the push/pull tone knob to either run the Fender Designed Alnico single coil pickups in either series or parallel, or as a phase switch when in position two (an option unique only to the Paranormal series).

The neck is a genuine Fender 27.5" conversion neck made specifically (in Mexico) for brining a standard 6 string into a longer scale. The quality of the neck itself is absolutely excellent and plays like a dream. I went ahead and upgraded the tuners to Fender Deluxe locking machine heads as well.

I'd also like to point out that all of the set up work performed on this instrument was professionally done by legendary guitar tech and luthier Eric 'Chaz' Czechanski out of his shop inside the famed Sound City recording studio in Van Nuys, California. Put frankly, I fully believe you will not play a better guitar than one set up by this man.

Eric went through and replaced literally all of the electronics, wiring, switches and jacks with premium grade components. I also had him upgrade to a 1k CTS volume pot which makes a HUGE difference with helping the sound cut through the lower scale baritone register. I left the original pickups in the guitar because I thought their inherent brightness actually paired beautifully with the low end growl of the .64 gauge strings.

Eric additionally went through and completely dialed in every aspect of the instrument and set it up in standard baritone B to B tuning for me. All of that work is documented at the end of the picture slideshow.

So this is it. If you love funky offsets, are into the classic look and feel of a Fender, and are a baritone enthusiast like I am, you won't find another combination anywhere else out there quite like this one.
