Gretsch 6071 1967 - Orange/Walnut

This Gretsch 6071 has seen some things.

Originally associated with The Monkees era and famously played by Peter Tork, this wonderfully oddball Gretsch remains in original condition after many years of battle. She wears her age proudly, with the honest character, bumps, bruises and patina you’d hope to see on a vintage bass that was actually allowed to live a little.

The 6071 is one of Gretsch’s distinctive short-scale hollowbody basses, featuring a 16” single-cutaway hollow body, 2” body depth, approximately 29” short scale, single Super’Tron bass pickup, Space Control bridge, built-in string mute, padded back, and classic Gretsch “G” tailpiece. The short scale and fully hollow construction give these basses a wonderfully warm, thumpy vintage character—and make them unmistakably Gretsch.

After decades of service, she’s now in need of a good home. Preferably one where retirement means being plugged into an amp and jamming for hours rather than sitting silently in a display case.

The Dampener switch is missing. my Luthier says it’s a simple repair for these hollow basses.
