For sale is my Carr Mercury V 1x12 combo, one of Carr’s most versatile amps and an outstanding option for everything from edge-of-breakup British cleans to classic rock crunch and higher-gain tones.

The Mercury V combines a pair of 6V6 power tubes with a unique dual-volume preamp design, allowing the High and Low volume controls to be blended in Parallel mode or cascaded in Series mode for substantially more gain. Combined with the three-position Boost switch, three-band EQ and built-in attenuator, there is a huge amount of tonal range available without pedals.

The amp was retubed in June 2026 with a matched pair of JJ 6V6 power tubes. I will include the service/purchase invoice with the amp for the new owner’s records.

The Mercury V is particularly impressive because it can move from articulate, dynamic cleans through vintage British breakup and into saturated rock tones while remaining extremely usable at home or studio volume thanks to the built-in attenuator.
